Passementerie (trimmings to you and me!)

I absolutely adore trimmings, when I worked for Laura Ashley's design service every client I had I designed their soft furnishings to include trimmings.  At the time we used a company called British Trimmings for all out tassels, fringe, braids etc.  I then came across Wendy Cushing in Chelsea Harbour and thought her stuff was wonderful.  Unfortunately her showroom is no longer there, she is on line but her range is nowhere near what it used to be.  But what still remains in Chelsea Harbour is Wemyss Houles and their ranges are absolutely to die for.  I love going to their showroom and looking at their samples and through their trimmings books.  Trimmings just add that finishing touch, something simple with a fabulous detail works so well.  These photographs are taken from the Houles website, see if they inspire you!

Rugs

This past week I've been researching rugs.  I've come to the conclusion The Rug Company is by far the best for design led rugs.  They have 48 designers contributing to their catalogue of fabulous rugs.  I've chosen some of my favourites here.

The rug above is designed by Suzanne Sharp.  When I first saw it I thought it was Jonathon Adler!

this one's really fun for a kid's room or a shabby chic style interior

The one above is designed by Lulu Guinness, very recognisable as her work, also very cool in this eclectic room

I love this room; the vibrant pink against the teal wall then all pulled together with the rug

Vivienne Westwood had to get a mention and I've chosen this rug from her range for The Rug Company (also comes in a light colourway)

Angel wings

No way, I cannot believe it's been a month since my last post.  Oh dear, I've been so busy with work and also been on holiday so apologies to all my followers for that.

This week I'm focusing on something I really love; angel wings.  I think they are so beautiful and romantic to use in lots of ways in your home.  There are many forms of Angel wings out there, from wooden and mirror to actual feathers.  I love angel wings so much I have used them on my business cards, which everyone loves.

See what you think......

What an amazing room!

We have these heart/wing trinket boxes in the shop (ANGEL & BB)

I love these Venetian mirror wings.  They are in my bathroom, I bought them from
Graham & Green years ago

This is my fireplace in my 'formal' living room
