un petit boudoir Français

I was in Paris a few days ago and had a great trip. It was for work, visiting Maison Objet.  I love Paris, especially Rue de St Honore, which is a fabulous street filled with amazing little quirky shops and boutiques, so much better than Champs Elysee.  My favourite shop in Paris has to be Lauderee, which sells the most amazing Macarons.  But it's not only the cakes it's the whole visual experience, all the colours of the Macarons, the packaging, the decor.  It's just wonderful and truly an inspiration, the most beautifuly soft sugar almond colours.  I love these colours and using them in design schemes, just really restful and calm.  Very feminine and frothy (sorry guys!)

Fabulous feminine gorgeousness

Some images of what I love and which inspire me.  As I've always said; it's all in the detail.  These little touches make all the difference and make a room look special.  Don't underestimate the power of accessories.  I like to pick unusual things up in my travels.  Which is great now that I have the shop as I can indulge myself constantly buying for the customers.  Thankfully they seem to love my taste for the unusual.  The secret to this type of look is to keep the pieces organised or it will just look a mess.  Play around and try different objects together, stand back and see if you like the look.  if you like it then keep it.  After all it's your home.

Rich velvet

What would be nicer than coming home in the evening after a hard day's work to one of these gorgeous living rooms?  The use of texture and richly coloured velvets add a sumptuousness to these living rooms.  Dark backdrops of wallpaper or paint add to the cosiness.  When I'm designing I like to layer up sofas with a rich variety of feather filled cushions and beautiful throws.  Start off fairly plain and add the accessories until you are happy with the look.  For me the more the better!  In the Spring the accessories can be changed to update the room for the season.  Only thing is, where do you keep all the extra cushions?
