Fabulous nurseries (baby ones!!)

This week I've been having a look at decorating babies/children's rooms.  It's such an exciting time when you are creating a room for a little person you haven't met yet.  It's up there with the most exciting times for me.  And, don't tell my daughter this, but I'm so looking forward to creating a nursery for a grandchild.  Unsure if I'm ready to be a grandmother but I am ready to decorate a bedroom for a baby/child.  I hope you are inspired by the images and realise baby's or children's rooms don't need to be boring or have a totally matched, manufactured look.   Paint a mural, or do the easy thing and buy decals to stick to the walls, wallpaper the ceiling - great for the baby to look at when they're in their cot or even just add the fab paper puffs for interest. Paint recycled furniture, re-cover a favourite chair in a funky fabric and painted or stripped floor boards are very practical.  Use your imagination and go for it!!

Modern day Toile

There are so many ways you can use Toile, be it fabric or wallpaper.  You can go for the full on toile wallpaper on every wall or use it in a more contemporary way with touches of bold coloured toile against a backdrop of plain classic colours.  I love the way American designer Liz Caan has used a turquoise negative print toile wallpaper with bold pink and white stripe balloon blinds, so effective and not at all fussy looking.  You'll notice she's used white a lot to counteract the patterns, this is a great trick to creating a bright and light room.  Toile cushions are very popular in our store, with fuchsia pink and acid green toile being the top sellers.  We are just about to take delivery of some more beautiful toile cushions, which will feature on our website when it launches (within the next couple of weeks!)

The Eiffel Tower

I've been so busy over the last couple of weeks I've been a bit remiss in writing my blog.  So apologies to all you out there who have been asking me where it is.

This week's blog was inspired by The Eiffel Tower or to give it it's proper name La Tour Eiffel.  We have lots of Eiffel Tower type things in our shop (well being French inspired it wouldn't be difficult!).  One of our most recent items into stock is glass and mirror tea light holder in the shape of The Eiffel Tower.  Six arrived last week and we have one left!  They are amazing and beautiful when they're lit.  40 cm high and so striking (only £30 and I'm ordering more).  We also have Eiffel Tower charms, and I've ordered huge framed prints of the Tower with glitter and crystals, amazing.  For those of you who prefer a more subtle approach to decorating I am looking at stocking large Eiffel Tower stickers for furniture and walls.  I love the chest of drawers I found on addicted2decorating blog.

The Eiffel Tower is such an iconic landmark and so beautiful in 'real life', but for those who want a bit of Paris without having to travel, check out what I have here.

We have Eiffel Tower charms in stock, great on a necklace or bracelet

We stock the tea light holder above

This is a chest customised with an Eiffel Tower sticker (very effective and not painted on as I originally thought, so easy to do!)

Framed prints soon to arrive (above)
